As one of the newer watch makers, Chronoswiss has embeded a wonderful name for themselves. Being around for nearly 20 years, this watch company provides great taste and beauty in their watches.
"When, in the early 1980`s, Gerard R. Lang set out to develop and exclusively manufacture mechanical wristwatches, many detractors thought that this was an idea whose time had passed. Within a few years after its founding, though, Chronoswiss was able to outline its own market profile, and develop a philosophy based on high quality mechanical watches for customers who are sensitive to the exceptional and wish to have their wristwatches express their individual life-style. This was further underscored by the knowledge that there will always be people who do not want to subject their life`s rhythm to the dictates of silently vibrating electronic timekeepers; people who prefer the pleasant ticking of classical watches to the fight for every tenth of a second. This concept became a reality, and Chronoswiss was born. The first wristwatch with the letters "Chronoswiss" appearing on the dial was a chronograph indicator with date and phases of the moon. It found astonishing acceptance. Soon additional moon-phase models were added as well as chronographs and skeleton watches - specialties of qualified watchmakers in the remote Swiss Jura Mountains. In 1988, Chronoswiss aroused great excitement among collectors and connoisseurs with the sensational "Regulateur-Automatique," a timepiece that combines two wonderful watchmaking achievements from the late 18th century: The self-winding pocket watch, and the regulateur. The latter cleverly prevents the hour hand from blocking out the small-seconds hand for several hours every day. The rest of the firm`s history is characterized by functionality, harmony, and elegance. One need only to look at the "Kairos" chronograph or the Orea line, for instance, to praise their successful efforts. The "Kairos Automatic" is a wristwatch in which the absolute perfection of its external appearance is carried on by its inner mechanism. Its flawless case, water tight to a depth of 30 meters, is composed of 19 parts. The operation of the highly precise automatic movement with a high-precision ball-bearing rotor can be observed at all times through the sapphire glass bottom. The Chronoswiss Orea line was shaped according to the maxim that life should not be lived fighting the watch, but in harmony with it. All of these elements are combined in the Chronoswiss "Orea" with an absolute perfection. The elegant, round case demonstrates the artistry of the design and the perfect art of the craftsman. A scratchproof sapphire glass protects the precious white-enamel dial, the polished, blued-steel hands and the extra-flat, hand-wound movement. Those remarkable achievements have pushed the Chronoswiss House into the rarified realm of fine watchmaking in less than a decade. Swiss by birth but international in its search for the ultimate timepiece, Chronoswiss has succeeded in capturing the essence of objective time, measurable in mechanical terms, and translating it into an absolute aesthetic perfection of the subjective moment."
